Climate change information is often spread across multiple sources, making it difficult for people to stay informed, find reliable resources, and identify meaningful ways to take action. While many platforms focus heavily on environmental challenges, they can sometimes leave users feeling overwhelmed or disconnected from potential solutions. Planet Action was designed to address this issue by creating a centralized platform that combines education, scientific updates, community engagement, and actionable resources, empowering users to stay informed, inspired, and involved in the fight against climate change.
The research phase for Planet Action focused on understanding how users currently access climate change information and what barriers prevent them from staying consistently engaged. This included exploring how environmental content is presented across news platforms, educational resources, and activist communities, as well as identifying gaps in clarity, accessibility, and actionable guidance. Insights from this process highlighted the need for a centralized platform that not only delivers reliable climate information but also balances urgency with optimism and provides clear pathways for users to get involved and take meaningful action.
During the ideation phase, concepts were explored around how to structure climate information in a way that feels both accessible and engaging without overwhelming users. Early sketches and layout ideas focused on organizing content into clear sections for education, live updates, actionable steps, and community engagement. Special attention was given to integrating a “hope” component within the experience to balance urgency with positivity. These explorations helped define a user-friendly structure that guides visitors through learning about climate change, discovering solutions, and connecting with opportunities for collective action.
During the design phase, Planet Action was refined into a clear and engaging experience that makes climate education and action-based content easy to navigate without overwhelming the user. The interface emphasizes strong hierarchy, readability, and intuitive structure to guide users through information, updates, and ways to get involved. A clean, modern visual identity was developed to balance urgency and optimism, with thoughtful use of typography and layout to support clarity and trust. The dedicated “hope” section was designed with a lighter, more uplifting tone to contrast serious climate content, resulting in a balanced and motivating experience that encourages users to stay informed and take meaningful environmental action.
In the solution phase, Planet Action was brought together as a fully structured, purpose-driven platform that centralizes climate education, real-time updates, and actionable resources in one accessible experience. The final design transforms complex environmental information into clear, digestible content while guiding users toward meaningful ways to get involved, from learning key concepts to engaging with community initiatives and protest organizations. A dedicated “hope” section highlights positive developments and environmental progress, balancing urgency with optimism to keep users motivated and engaged. Overall, the solution delivers a cohesive and intuitive platform that empowers users to stay informed, connected, and actively involved in addressing climate change.
